Kerina grew up within the Twelveswood, with their family in Greentear. Their family was known for collecting high-quality botanical goods which either were shipped south to Ul'dah or North to Gridania.Their two brothers, Eadwine & Osbeorn were conscripted as Wood Wailers during the events of the Seventh Umbral Calamity, and as such, perished on the Fields of Cartineau. They died proudly in defense of their home, family & friends.With their elder brothers' passing, they were tapped to learn the ways of the business and expected to take over once their parents wanted to retire. In order to facilitate an easier time of protecting themselves and cargo on the road, they were granted permission to go and study conjury in Gridania.

Kerina ended up taking to conjury like a fish to water and quickly learned the lessons the Padjal, hearers & elements had to teach them. Helping out a younger conjurer by the name of Sylphie, Kerina was glad of the company she provided in the lessons and they learned much together.After helping out Bowlord Lewin protect the Guardian tree from a unknown threat Kerina had never heard of before, the Ascians. They were recommened to Kan-E-Senna themselves by helping Yda & Papalymo dispel this threat.Up to this point, they'd only experienced the echo once, but twice within a day, they experienced it. Once donning the mask for the ceremony, and upon showing Kan-E-Senna the crystal they had found.With the help of Mother Miounne, they recovered quickly and hesitantly became an emissary for Kan-E-Senna and Gridania itself to the other city states. Kerina justified going along with something that felt inherently wrong to them by justifying that it would help their family's business. To them, though, they weren't an emissary. They were just them, and it's all they'd ever be.Eventually in Ul'dah after helping out Momodi Modi with the Miner's issues with Copperbell Mines, and also a shady merchant harassing the locals, Papalymo & Yda showed back up inviting them to join the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Momodi assured Kerina that they were indeed a legitimate, yet small group.After taking a break and some soul searching, in which they met up with both Aeos & Orphae at Buscarron's Druthers, they spent a month touring the seas around Vylbrandt, relaxing and fishing. Refreshed, having met new friends along the way, they resolved to make their way to Vesper Bay and meet the Scions of the Seventh Dawn officially.
